It was back to the 40s (and 50s) when close singing harmony trio, The Hummingbirds, put on a performance of swing and vintage music.
Singers Clara, Bettie and Grace went down a storm as they treated their audience to a wide repertoire of songs from bygone days. Drawing on the popular Andrews Sisters catalogue, The Hummingbirds prompted plenty of foot tapping and sing-a-long to favourites such as ‘Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy’, ‘Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree’ and Glenn Miller’s ‘Chatanooga Choo Choo’.
“I thoroughly enjoyed listening to them,” one of the residents said afterwards. “They even dressed like the 1940s and it took me right back to those days.”
