An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Nursing Home to work as an Assistant Chef.

Part-time role – 18 hours per week worked as two 7am to 4pm shifts between Monday and Sunday. Workdays flexible to suit.

As Assistant Chef, you will support the Catering Manager in providing a comprehensive and professional service for the Centre, deputising for the Catering Manager in their absence.

As part of the Catering Team, your role will include a variety of tasks to help produce top class food and ensure a high-quality dining experience for our residents.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support the Catering Manager and Team in the preparation of meals, ensuring they are delivered to residents in an appetising manner, following the approved menu cycle.
  • Ensure special dietary needs and preferences of our residents are met.
  • Be responsible for the smooth running of the Catering Department in the absence of the Catering Manager.
  • Ensure proper standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and safe storage of kitchen equipment are adhered to at all times.
  • Oversee ordering and delivery of provisions, as authorised by the Catering Manager.
  • Maintain good relations with residents and visitors, maintaining the good name of the Centre at all times.

Minimum qualifications and experience:

City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or equivalent.  Advanced Food Hygiene Certificate or equivalent, desirable.  Knowledge of current Hygiene Legislation essential.  Some experience in managing staff preferably in the care sector preferred.
