Father’s Day Celebration

Families will be gathering at The Chiswick Nursing Centre on Sunday 18 June to celebrate Father’s Day. Love, best wishes and probably, small gifts will be given to Dads, grandfathers and even great- (or great, great) grandfathers on this day.

Father’s Day has its roots in the USA and originally came about in 1908 to mark the deaths of more than 300 men in a mining disaster in West Virginia a few months earlier. Slowly the campaign to honour paternal figures spread. It became a Federal holiday in the US in the 1970s.

Unlike Mother’s Day, where the dates vary in each country, Father’s Day in the USA and UK is always celebrated on the third Sunday of the month.

No matter what the date, a Sunday family get together is always a cause for celebration and this year will be no exception.
