It will be the full works – tasting haggis, bagpipes and poetry – when we gather to celebrate Robert Burns at 3pm on Saturday 25 January in Belgravia Suite. Always a highlight of the January calendar, residents will tuck into traditional fayre, including tasting size neeps and tatties to accompany the obligatory haggis. Entertainment will encompass traditional Scottish music, tales and recitations. There may even be a ‘wee dram’ to toast ‘The Lassies’ before ‘Auld Lang Syne’ brings the curtain down.
Strawberries and cream are synonymous with summer and the sun shone from a blue sky for our annual Afternoon Strawberry and Cream Tea event.
This year we were raising funds for The Alzheimer’s Society Cupcake Day. Residents put their artistic skills to decorating cupcakes which they later enjoyed with their tea. Also on the menu were traditional scones with cream and jam, and, of course, strawberries formed the centrepiece. Everyone agreed it was just perfect as a glass of Pimms or lemonade slipped down a treat to help put the finishing summer touch to the afternoon.
Summer Garden Party Saturday 31st August
Blasts from the past will echo around Ravenscourt Park on Saturday 31st August when the Chiswick Nursing Centre hosts a garden party with a rock and roll theme. Toes will be tapping and some may even show off their jive skills as residents, relatives and friends get together to share the music and party food. Best of all, it will great for everyone to enjoy good company and friendship on a right, rocking day that is sure to go with a swing. The annual summer party at the care home in Chiswick is a much-loved tradition by all connected with the residential care home. Planning is already underway for this year’s event which takes place on 31 August. There is sure to be the usual carnival atmosphere. Residents and their guests can count on the fact that they will be in for some tasty food and drink – plus there will be a range of entertainment for all ages. And if the event is blessed with good weather, much of the activity will take place in the garden. The ‘barbie’ may even sizzle in the summer sunshine.

“This annual event has become hugely popular with our residents. We are hopeful for an afternoon of good weather that will enable as many of our residents to join us in the garden for this year’s event which also allows us to support the good work of the Alzheimer’s Society and raise some funds for their efforts in this important area of support for those who live with this illness. Residents, their relatives and guests and any members of the local community are very welcome to attend and join us on the afternoon which will run from 2.30pm onwards. This provides an ideal opportunity to see an excellent nursing home in full operation and to better understand how we work with and support our residents here. No appointment is necessary and people can simply come along for a cream tea and a chat.
Funds raised at the event will be match funded by the Chiswick Nursing Centre operating company – Ganymede Care Ltd and all funds raised will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Society.
If you would like to join us and experience what the Centre has to offer email: firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know you are attending the event.
